A small group of our library teen volunteers had the privilege of visiting and getting a private tour of Pasadena’s JPL campus. If you’re not familiar with who or what JPL is, JPL stands for Jet Propulsion Laboratory. It is a national research facility that carries out robotic space and Earth science missions and manages NASA’s Deep Space Network, a worldwide system of antennas that communicates with interplanetary spacecraft. JPL is managed for NASA by Caltech.
The experience was wondrous. We got to see the spacecraft testing areas and the control center! You might recognize this from the movie based on the book The Martian.
