Tomorrow is March 1st and that means it is the official start of our month-long One City, One Story program, a great way for our whole community to come together around one book. We have lots of programs going on through the whole month, and we’re starting off the month with a bang with a visit from Viet Thanh Nguyen, author of our 2017 selection The Sympathizer, this Thursday 3/2 at 7 p.m. at All Saints Church, Sanctuary. We’ll have more great movies, workshops, panels, and a cultural afternoon, all relating to Vietnam and The Sympathizer all through March so make sure to look over the flyer linked from the image below or check our One City, One Story events calendar from our online guide.

What do the Mayor and Library Director have to say about One City, One Story and The Sympathizer?
“One City, One Story has become an enduring tradition in Pasadena because it speaks to several aspects of our community character; love of the written word and the desire to discuss varied points of view. Congratulations to those who have worked so hard to continue this tradition and I hope that many of our residents will continue to participate.” -Mayor Terry Tornek
“This year celebrates the 15th anniversary of One City, One Story with a fascinating novel, The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen. He provides a new perspective on the Vietnam War, one in sharp
contrast to that portrayed by Hollywood. We hope that you will enjoy The Sympathizer and plan on attending the Conversation with the Author on March 2 at All Saints Church.” -Library Director Michelle Perera
