The Fishing Pole Will Be Due in 3 Weeks, Mr. Angler!

Libraries are all about Summer!

Public Library customers have tons of books to choose from at their respective libraries this Summer. From the hardcover board books for the very young; to the large print editions for the young-at-heart. My last blog touched on eBooks and eReaders available for check-out at the Pasadena Public Library.

But books, even eBooks & eReaders, are not the only items Libraries lend out!

Soon the Pasadena Public Library will have Pasadena Grows – a Seed Lending Program to help nurture a thriving community of gardeners of all ages; encouraging healthy eating through gardening.  The Library will provide access to free seeds for people to grow.  Once those plants mature, they can return new seeds back to the Library.

The Blasco Library at Erie, PN has a Fishing Pole and Tackle Loan Program.

At the Perham Area Public Library in Minnesota, life jackets and camping equipment – that includes a “four-person tent, lantern, cook stove and flashlight” – are available for the weekend getaway.

When you get snowed in at Canaan, VT and are in dire need of snowshoes,  make your way to the Alice M. Ward Memorial Library.  The Library has been lending out snowshoes for patrons since February of this year.

So the next time you’re in a pinch, think of your local library – they might have what you need.  If not, we Library Folks will know where you can find it!
