Teen Zine

Sarah has been working hard to create pages for our first teen zine.  Jane will be meeting with the library directors to discuss printing options and cost.  More assignments will follow this next week to finish up the Teen Zine.

Fall volunteering

Possible makerspace “monitor” or “coach” or homework help.  TAB will train volunteers.  Jane will approach appropriate library heads to discuss possibilities.

Halloween event

Proposal:  after-hours Halloween event — Should we do this?

Why:  promotes safe youth spaces, provides a free community sponsored event especially for teens, provides an alternative to trick-or-treating or partying on Halloween

Halloween is on a Friday this year.  We can offer an after library hours (about 6-8pm) teen only Halloween event at the library.  How many of you think you would go?  How many of your friends and teens in the community would be interested in this?  What would we do?

Ideas:  Haneen had an idea of doing a scavenger hunt around the building.  Since it’s Halloween, many proposed in doing a combination of a murder mystery and scavenger hunt.  Themes proposed:  1920’s or 1880s (Sherlock Holmes style).  There should be food and ample time to mingle.

Verdict:  Yes.  Jane will approach managers about the possibility.

Special projects

We will continue with Teen Zine assignments throughout this week.

Kara will be working on a Top Ten booklist to be distributed in the Teen Zine and our Teen Picks booklists.

Ben will be assembling a Libguide for Youth Services.

Sarah will continue taking a lead on the Teen Zine and some art projects for teen programs.

If approved, Haneen will take the lead on planning the scavenger hunt for the Halloween event.

Chris will be creating a genre booklist to be added to our official list online.
