The Tomorrow Prize for short science fiction by Los Angeles County high school students inspires students to explore their present through speculating about their future and to excel in the art of storytelling. It is open to all 9th to 12th grade students attending schools in LA County. Submissions are open Oct. 2, 2017 to Feb. 26, 2018.
Open to high school students. Deadline: February 1
Annually students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades are invited to enter in one of the categories. We will begin accepting submissions for the next competition on September 4, 2018.

Open to high school students. Submissions will be accepted from November 15, 2017, through January 16, 2018.
For ages 13-18. Our reading period for the 2018 Critical Junior Poet’s Award contest begins on
November 1, 2017 with all submissions due by September 1, 2018.
“A Stellar Flare of Young Adult Writing and Visual Art”
This is a free novel contest. If you have a novel over 20,000 words, you can submit it.
Poetry. Open to high school sophomores and juniors. Deadline: November 30 annually
For girls in 10th-11th grade only. Deadline: October
For ages 13-19. Submission periods: January 15 – May 31; September 1 – November 14
Recognizes outstanding work by student writers in the 11th grade. Open in fall only.
The author of the poem must have been age 16 or younger when the poem was written, and 18 or younger when submitted. Deadline: June 15.
