Teen Advisory Board 1/9/2017

Below are brief notes from our meeting.

 

We talked about: 

  • Winter programs debrief (crafts, games, writing, movie, mugs)
  • Selected summer reading graphics
  • Will order more TAB shirts.
  • Training lists for volunteers. – If you have other suggestions to add to the list, please reply all and let the Volunteer Relations team know.

What we’re working on now: 

  • Book club (Crooked Kingdom) – Feb 6, 6pm ~ facilitated by Mckenna & Kara
  • Writer’s meetup – Feb 23, 6pm ~ facilitated by Sophie?
  • Movie discussions (possibly bi-monthly or quarterly) – on a weeknight 5-8pm (Apr = Perks of Being a Wallflower) ~ facilitated by Genevieve & Meep
  • Civic engagement discussion ~ possibly monthly ~ facilitated by Nina
  • Mental health first aid training – on a weeknight 5-7pm (Apr-May)
  • Volunteer orientations – I’ll start scheduling volunteers this month for orientations.
  • Volunteer relations team – finalizing general volunteer orientation list; continue work on TAB guidelines list
  • Painting book covers on chairs
  • Teen Tech Week (March 5-11)

Jane Gov

Jane is a Youth Services Librarian at Pasadena Central Library. She purchases YA books for the library system and maintains the teen booklist, online resources, and webpages. She oversees Teen & YA programs including Summer Reading, Advisory Board, Zine, book reviewers, and volunteers. She also conducts a few kids events and storytimes. Jane is a contributor to VOYA Magazine and a YALSA Board member. A majority of her free time is spent with her corgi Lord Tyrion of Pasadena. She tweets as @missjanegov.
