Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

Thought-provoking, ominous, and poignant. In a society so bizarre it is practically impossible to envision, we are left in awe at the state of this utopian world. This is not the main theme of the novel, though. On the surface of the layers of technological advances, we handle serious themes such as the blending of cultures, the advancement of science, the ability to control others, and the consequences of solely seeking pleasure. With a descriptive prose, and empathetic characters, we are drawn into this story which is both shocking emotionally and enlightening. Like 1984 by George Orwell, I find that this is a perfect example of a book that will permanently change your view and outlook on life and society. A Must Read. – Josh, teen reviewer
