In January kids came to Central Library to learn about coding with Sphero Robots! Cheri Haggard of MATHmania Robotics came and showed kids coding fundamentals while engaging them in a challenge to program their robot to go around a track and cross the finish line. The robots move with a gyroscope and you use an iPad to control the robot’s speed and direction. Kids had to apply math concepts about angles and geometry as well as coding and sequencing in order to successfully navigate around a box and back across the finish line.

We’re excited to be able to provide families with a Sphero STEAM Kit you can check out and take home. If you’re inspired by what you see in this post, consider placing a hold on this kit! Teachers can also check out a Sphero Educator STEAM Kit with 12 robots and a charging pack. Kits must be checked out at and returned to the Central Library front desk.
