Yesterday was the last storytime of our Winter Session!  It focused on spots and dots.


Books We Shared

Our first story Animal Spots and Stripes by Britta Teckentrup compared different animals that have spots and stripes, and even had some creatures that have both!

For our second book, we played a guessing game with Nancy Tafuri’s Spots, Feathers, and Curly Tails.  This book will show you one part of the animal on a page, then you have to turn the page to figure out if you guessed correctly!  It’s perfect for making book time interactive with even the youngest of listeners.

Idea taken from storytime katie, who got the idea from What Happens in Storytime, who found the song at Preschool Education.

(to the tune of “The Muffin Man”)
Ladybug has 1 black spot,
1 black spot, 1 black spot.
Ladybug has 1 black spot.
Pretty ladybug!

We kept adding spots and singing the song until Ladybug had 6 spots.

And put it in the oven for Baby and me! (hands flat, then point to baby, then you.)

A one step (move your fingers and tickle baby up the belly)

A tickly under there (tickle baby under chin)
