Shoes are neat and cover our feet!  Storytime this week for our toddlers was all about these sole supporters!

Buying new shoes is exciting, and My New Shoes by Leilani Sparrow, illustrated by Dan Taylor captures all the fun of going to a store and picking out the pair that fit you best.

There are so many different shoes that people wear!  Whose Shoe? by Margaret Miller is a fun guessing game to play with your little one – see the shoe on one page, and turn to see who wears it!


Flannel Board Story

Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes
 
Based on the story of the same name by Eric Litwin, with art by James Dean.


Pete the Cat has a new pair of white shoes that he loves, but as he sets about his day, he encounters many different things that change the color of his shoes.

First, a large pile of strawberries turns his shoes red!

Next he walks through a pile of blueberries! (I know they look white in this picture, but the felt is really a light blue color.)

Oh no! Now he walks through a puddle of mud, turning his shoes brown!

Then he walks through a bucket of water, which gets rid of all the brown, blue and red on his shoes.  They are white again.  But now they are wet!

The Itsy Bitsy Spider
The itsy bitsy spider (L shape with both hands.  Place thumb of one hand on forefinger of the other)
went up the water spout.   (“walk” your fingers up thumb to forefinger, alternating.)
Down came the rain and (wiggle fingers and bring then downward)
Washed the spider out. (make baseball “safe” motion)
Out came the sun and (hands above head in a circle)
and dried up all the rain. (hands out at side of body)
And the itsy bitsy spider (L shape with both hands.  Place thumb of one hand on forefinger of the other)
went up the spout again. (“walk” your fingers up thumb to forefinger, alternating.)

Twinkle, twinkle little star (open and close fingers into fist to make star)
