Shiver me timbers!  We had some pirate fun during our final Infant Storytime of the fall session – AARRRGH!  I really had a wonderful time sharing stories, songs, bounces & rhymes each Tuesday with all of these beautiful babies & their families.

Registration for our winter session of Infant storytime will be held on Tuesday, January 10th – 9 a.m. for Pasadena residents; 11 a.m. for nonresidents!  Hope to see you then!

Book We Shared

pirates-bubbles

We shared Bubble Bath Pirates by Jarrett J. Krosoczka .   In this book we follow a band of little pirates around the house as their mom prepares them to “walk the plank” and jump into the bathtub for a pirate bubble bath!  Since the book was a bit long, we moved to an interactive flannel board story.  If you’d like to reenact the flannel story at home, please click here for the templates:  Pirate Pete’s Red Patch.  Credit: Loons & Quines @ Librarytime.

Flannel Board Story

Pirate Pete’s Red Patch

(to the tune of Mary Wore Her Red Dress)

Pirate wore his red patch, his red patch, his red patch.

Pirate wore his red patch ALL DAY LONG!

(Switch Pirate Pete’s patch to another color – repeat with 4-6 more colors)

Pirate wore his green patch, his green patch, his green patch.

Pirate wore his green patch ALL DAY LONG!

(repeat with blue, yellow, pink, etc…)

Rhymes & Songs We Shared

We have a lot of fun doing action rhymes at storytime!  Here are the ones we shared:

Opening Songs:

Welcome Song (tune: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)

Welcome, welcome everyone
Now we’re here let’s have some fun.
First we clap our hands just so
Then we bend and touch our toes
Welcome, welcome everyone
Now we’re here let’s have some fun.

Clap Everybody and Say Hello Sally Go Round the Sun CD by Kathy Reid-Naiman

Opening Bounces:

Dickory Dickory Dare (tune :  Hickory Dickory Dock)

Dickory dickory dare, (bounce baby on lap)
The pig flew up in the air. (lift baby up in air)
The man in brown
Soon brought him down! (bring baby back down to lap)
Dickory dickory dare. (bounce baby on lap)

The Grand Old Duke of York (See video of Grand Old Duke of York)

The grand old Duke of York (bounce baby on lap)
He had 10,000 men, (bounce baby on lap)
He marched them up to the top of the hill (lift baby up in the air)
And he marched them down again. (bring baby down onto lap)
When they’re up, they’re up (lift baby up in the air)
And when they’re down, they’re down, (bring baby down onto lap)
And when they’re only halfway up, (bring baby halfway up)
They’re neither up nor down. (lift baby up and bring baby down again)

Mr. Moon (See video of Mr. Moon)

The sun is still in the sky,
So go back to your bed and cover up your head,
And wait ’til the day goes by.

Goodbye Babies (in sign – tune “Goodnight Ladies”)

Goodbye babies, goodbye babies, goodbye babies,

It’s time to say goodbye…
