Books We Read

We all know that pigs love getting dirty.  Read Ten Dirty Pigs by Carol Roth to see how they scrub clean afterwards!  Nancy Van Laan’s book Scrubba Dub is all about a little bunny taking a bath – at the end bunny may be clean, but something else is pretty messy!  This is a wonderful read aloud full of fun rhymes.  Maisy may be taking a bath, but her friend Tallulah wants to play.  Find out how they settle things in Maisy Takes a Bath by Lucy Cousins.

Flannelboard Story

Have you ever see elephants try to take a bath?  We looked at what would happen when the squished into the tub in today’s flannelboard story.

Five Elephants in the Bathtub

Come on in! (Wave hand invitingly)

2 elephants in the bathtub
going for a swim.
Knock, knock (clap hands for each knock)
Splash, splash (pat lap for each splash)
Come on in! (Wave hand invitingly)

3 elephants in the bathtub
going for a swim.
Knock, knock (clap hands for each knock)
Splash, splash (pat lap for each splash)
Come on in! (Wave hand invitingly)

4 elephants in the bathtub
going for a swim.
Knock, knock (clap hands for each knock)
Splash, splash (pat lap for each splash)
Come on in! (Wave hand invitingly)

5 elephants in the bathtub
going for a swim.
Knock, knock (clap hands for each knock)
Splash, splash (pat lap for each splash)
And they all fell in! (Knock all the elephants and tub off the flannelboard!)

Nursery Rhyme

For more bathtime fun we played with the nursery rhyme Rub a Dub Dub!

Rub a Dub Dub Flannelboard
Rub a Dub Dub
Rub a dub dub,
Three men in a tub,
And who do you think they be?
The butcher, the baker,
The candlestick maker.
Turn them out, knaves all three.

Film We Watched

We joined beloved storybook dog, Spot, for bathtime and a song in today’s film.

Jennifer Driscoll

Jennifer D. is a Senior Librarian of Youth Services . When she was young, she was once grounded for reading too much. Things haven’t changed much since then and she loves escaping into a good story. When she’s not reading she enjoys watching old musicals, scouring flea markets, taking way too many photos and letterpressing. If she could have any pet she wanted she would have a wombat or a manatee.
