There’s a monster in the HOUSE! Hey wait…that’s not my monster!!!
We had some monstrous fun during our Infant Storytime.
Let’s take a peek at the stories, bounces & rhymes we shared – for a printable list with lyrics, click here: Infant Songs-Bounces-Rhymes
OPENING SONGS:
Welcome Everyone!
Clap Everybody and Say Hello!
BOUNCES:
Dickery, Dickery Dare!
Grand Old Duke of York
OUR BOOK:
That’s Not My Monster by Fiona Watt is a great board book for helping infants/toddlers develop sensory and language awareness.
Of course at the end we discover the final monster with fluffy ears is our monster – who can resist
fluffy ears on a monster anyway? The children loved this book and sat quietly as I turned each page.
MOVEMENT SONG:
Clap, Tap & Bend
OUR FLANNEL PUPPET STORY:
GO AWAY BIG GREEN MONSTER!
based on the book by Ed Emberley
We had fun with our flannel monster puppet. The eyes, ears, mouth, nose and hair are all re-moveable, making this a great prop for telling Ed Emberley’s story to infants. We start with just the monster’s green face..then we begin adding parts one at a time:
Big Green Monster has a big, scary green face,
Two big yellow eyes, (add eyes)
a long, bluish-green nose, (add nose)
Two little squiggly ears, (add ears)
Scraggly purple hair (add hair)
and a big, red mouth with sharp white teeth… (add mouth)
BUT
You’re just a PUPPET!
And you don’t scare us!!!! So…
GO AWAY, scraggly purple hair, (remove hair)
GO AWAY, two little squiggly ears, (remove ears)
GO AWAY, long bluish-green nose, (remove nose)
GO AWAY big yellow eyes, (remove eyes)
GO AWAY big, red mouth with those sharp white teeth (remove mouth)
GO AWAY, big scary green face, (turn hand mitt around to show black side)
AND DON’T COME BACK
Until I say so.
MORE BOUNCES:
This is the Way the Ladies Ride
Trot to Boston
Trot Trot Trot
OUR NURSERY RHYME:
The Itsy Bitsy Spider
The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the waterspout,
Down came the rain and washed the spider out!
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain
So the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again!
TICKLE:
Round and round the garden (circle baby’s belly with fingers)
Goes the teddy bear (walk fingers around belly button)
A one-step, a two-step (walk fingers to chin)
A tickle under there!!! (tickle under chin)
CLOSING SONGS:
Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
Itsy Bitsy Spider
Goodbye Babies (in sign) (to the tune of Hello Ladies…)
Goodbye babies, goodbye babies, goodbye babies…it’s time to say goodbye
