Except not long after they arrive, the unexpected happens as they come across a sight that’ll haunt them forever. The girls soon realize there’s something deeper going on, and it’s no coincidence. Something is wrong. Something is there. As they fight for survival, they must come together if they all want to make it out alive and uncover the truth.

I absolutely loved this book. It kept me on my toes and wanting to know what happened next constantly. The pacing was excellent, and the suspense never let up, making it hard to put down. The story was told in a point of view that gives readers more depth into how all the characters are feeling and what they’re truly going through. Each of the girls had distinct personalities, and their individual struggles made them feel real and relatable. It made the story all that more powerful as we gained a better understanding of their fears and doubts. I highly recommend this book to those who love a good suspenseful read that will have you expecting the unexpected. If you enjoy thrillers with an unsettling, eerie feel and strong characters, this book is definitely for you.

5 out of 5 stars

Find this book in our catalog: The Lake House

Catalog number: YA FIC DURST,S

354 pages

The Lake House by Sarah Beth Durst Reviewed by Nadia Rojas, age 17 The Lake House by Sarah Beth Durst is a thrilling novel about a teenager, Claire, and two other girls, Reyva and Mariana, who all believe they’re going to a summer camp in the wilderness.
