However, when he’s tasked with going undercover at a high school and reconciling two best friends who are destined to be more to each other, Jude starts to lose control. It’s becoming increasingly hard to follow the golden rule when one of the friends is caring, funny, and always on his mind. Even though he’s supposed to be an expert at love, he’s beginning to learn he might not know the first thing about it until he’s falling into it.

I love the unique concept and plot of Okay, Cupid, which was quite refreshing and a twist on the classic matchmaker falls in love trope. While I wished cupids’ magic had been more powerful and the world-building of the system of cupids was built on, there was still enough to make the book a page-turner and have riveting conflicts. Jude being faced with the struggle of following his heart versus staying true to the rules of being a cupid on top of just navigating the normal feelings of a teenager in a modern-day romance really made me root for him as a protagonist. Jude’s feelings were emphasized well through the first-person narrative throughout the book. He, along with the supporting characters and love interest, was incredibly likable, interesting, and just a joy to read about. The author did a really great job overall writing relatable characters with realistic dialogue. As for the ending, it was unpredictable and fit the story superbly. I’d one hundred percent recommend this cute and fun romance book to teens!

4 stars of 5 stars

Find this book in our catalog: Okay, Cupid

Catalog Number: YA SF DEAVER,M

311 pages

Reviewed by Kaelin Lee, age 16 Okay, Cupid by Mason Deaver Jude is a teenage cupid, meant to set other people’s love stories in motion and uphold the number one rule of not getting attached.
