One person was missing &#8211; where was the shapeshifter? Well, it wasn\u2019t as if the show needed her. She could barely change her face, let alone change her form. He was about to enter the ring when he felt a tug on his coat. He looked down.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A child stood at his feet, eight years old at most. She wore rags, and no shoes. Her hair was a red as fire, and her eyes were an icy gray. She looked so unusual that it was unsettling. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cGirl, scram. I\u2019ve got to go onstage now, and I can\u2019t be bothered with beggars. But I\u2019ll give you a tip after the show, the stands are full of leftover food, and I won\u2019t mind if you help yourself.\u201d Eduard said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cMy name is Ember, and I am <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">not<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> a beggar. I am here for work.\u201d the girl said, and her voice felt as if it were on fire. Before Eduard\u2019s eyes, she transformed into a dragon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eduard was shocked. \u201cBut you\u2019re just a girl. It takes master shapeshifters decades to master the skills needed to completely change their form.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI\u2019m more skilled than most.\u201d the girl replied. \u201cWill you hire me?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cYes. The circus could use someone like you. But what about your parents?\u201d Eduard inquired.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThey are dead. Killed in a factory fire. It was when they were killed that I started being able to transform. I trained myself, and have been going from circus to circus ever since. None of them bothered to listen to me\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI\u2019m sure glad I did. You\u2019re hired!\u201d Eduardo said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ember smiled.
