Although this title is also known throughout the cinematic world, I picked up this book two years prior to the movie’s release. And can I just say, even though I forgot some things before, reading it again reminded me why this book was so amazing in the first place.

The title is based on a Shakesperean poem, and is filled with romance, humor, and philosophy. Green expertly lures you in through Hazel’s wise beyond her years persona, and leaves you laughing, and even tearing up a little to the very last sentence. This isn’t just a romance novel; the protagonists also contemplate love, death, and the meaning of life itself.

Point is, this is set in modern times, but with a different twist. Although the characters’ situation is different from that of most people, it’s exactly what gives it enough of a twist to help you realize how alike we are. I can think of a few things that are relatable to everyone; the pressures of society, fitting in, leaving an impact on someone or someplace. You’ll like it; just give it a try!

“Only now that I loved a grenade did I understand the foolishness of me trying to save others from my own impending fragmentation; I couldn’t unlove Augustus Waters. And I didn’t want to.” 5 stars. –Lauren, teen reviewer

Find this book in our library: The Fault in Our Stars

review by Lauren, teen reviewer The Fault in Our Stars by John Green “I fell in love the way you fall asleep; Slowly, and then all at once.” The Fault in our Stars by John Green, is the story of Augustus Waters and Hazel Grace Lancaster, two cancer survivors, whose […]

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

54

post-2179","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-teen-reviews
What's hot in YA right now?
