October meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Teen Advisory Board<\/p>\n<p>October 18, 2014<\/p>\n<p>TAB members present: \u00a0Haneen, Julia, Chris, Kara, Michelle; absent: Sarah, Jerry, Ben<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>AGENDA<\/p>\n<p>The Fair &#8211; Nov. 15<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chris will be in charge of the Demo Area- specifically the Little Bits<\/li>\n<li>Julia will oversee metal etching<\/li>\n<li>Michelle will oversee circuits\/light up cards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Teen Zine has been released! \u00a0Discuss plans for the next one. \u00a0Take volunteers for article submissions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Character Design article &#8211; Julia<\/li>\n<li>Creative Power article &#8211; Julia<\/li>\n<li>Book clubs (8) recaps &#8211; Kara<\/li>\n<li>Teens Top Ten &#8211; Kara<\/li>\n<li>Murder Mystery article &#8211; Haneen<\/li>\n<li>Sarah will oversee layout<\/li>\n<li>photographs taken by Teen Zine team- first meeting soon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Halloween event<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Haneen has finished the murder mystery scripts; she&#8217;s still working on the completing the map and is midway through completing all the clues!<\/li>\n<li>Discuss volunteers for the roles and for the night.<\/li>\n<li>Chris will help market the event by distributing flyers to his classmates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Announcements<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the end of Teen Read Week. \u00a0We gave away 121 teen books. \u00a0Hopefully, we can extend the giveaway to all the branches next year. \u00a0We received eleven writing contest entries. \u00a0Extra autographed copies of the Maze Runner (which was this month&#8217;s book club book) were awarded to TAB.<\/p>\n<p>A teen was observed using the new Teen Zine as a reader&#8217;s advisory tool. \u00a0He was going down the list and placing books on hold!<\/p>\n<p>Because of the excellent work Kara has demonstrated on assembling the Teens Top Ten article, and her continual work on book reviews, I have asked her to become my teen review partner for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.voyamagazine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Voya magazine<\/a>. \u00a0Kara will be assigned pre-published books to review, and her review will appear beside mine in the magazine. \u00a0Extended reviews will continue to be published on our blog. \u00a0Congratulations Kara!<\/p>\n<p>And a big thanks to Chris who facilitated the last Anime Afternoon event!<\/p>\n<p>Next meeting: \u00a0test out winter activities (DIY snow globes, diy tshirt screening);
