This summer, we experimented with watercolor pencils. These programs were taught by Pasadena Library staff and for all ages, so families can enjoy these activities together while staying safe at home.

Supplies you’ll need:
- watercolor pencils
- watercolor paper
- paint brush
- Sharpie or pen
- painter’s tape
- cup to hold water for painting
- pencil sharpener
- paper towels
Painting a butterfly
Painting cacti
Painting landscapes
These simple landscape paintings use the same colors as the paintings above. You can use any colors you have, but since the library distributed watercolor pencil kits in two different color sets intended for the butterfly painting and the cacti painting, the tree landscape and the sunset landscape tutorials use the same colors respectively.
- tree landscape colors = butterfly painting colors
- sunset landscape colors = cacti painting colors
If you have all or other colors, you can experiment with blending in different colors to create other landscapes.
