This Tuesday we explored\u00a0books about pumpkins and all things Halloween!<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"bat\"<\/span><\/p>\n

We started by following Batty<\/span><\/strong> (<\/em>our\u00a0library bat) into the storyhour room!\u00a0 At the conclusion of storytime, each of the children\u00a0picked a “felt” pumpkin from the library’s pumpkin patch and placed it onto the felt board!\u00a0 The end result?\u00a0 A colorful, exuberant NEW pumpkin patch!\u00a0 Well not ALL of the pumpkins made it onto the board but it was still heaps of fun!\u00a0 Special thanks to Shauna Redmond<\/span><\/strong>, our virtual services librarian, for creating a\u00a0gorgeous storytime pumpkin set, complete with baby pumpkins dressed in costume and a librarian reading\u00a0a Halloween picture book!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

In between we shared\u00a0the following\u00a0stories, songs\u00a0and activities!<\/span> <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Stories<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

During our infant storytime, we read Duck and Goose<\/span>\u00a0Find a Pumpkin<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 In Tad Hill’s story, Duck and Goose go on a quest to find a pumpkin.\u00a0 They look everywhere – under a log, way up high in a tree, under the water…where oh where can they find a pumpkin???\u00a0 The pumpkin patch, of course!!!\u00a0 A great story that keeps the little ones guessing.\u00a0We also shared a board book by Salina Yoon (one of my favorite\u00a0authors) titled Where’s Boo?<\/span>\u00a0 Boo the cat is hidden, but where?\u00a0 Behind the jack-o-lantern?\u00a0 No!\u00a0 Behind the cookie jar?\u00a0 No! Where is that cat?\u00a0 Another great guessing story with simple text and colorful illustrations.<\/p>\n

During toddler storytime, we shared It’s Halloween Night <\/a>by Jennifer O’Connell.\u00a0 In this story, we get a\u00a0set of clues to help us solve\u00a0the mystery of the Halloween costumes.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0There’s a ghost, a witch, a vampire, a princess and more.\u00a0\u00a0We also read Duck and Goose Find a Pumpkin<\/span>\u00a0and Where’s Boo?<\/span>\u00a0 (see above paragraph)<\/em>.\u00a0 I love these two books so much that I had to share them with the toddler crowd as well.\u00a0 There is no harm\u00a0re-reading your favorites is there?\u00a0 And there’s definitely\u00a0no harm in reading the same book over and over to your child.\u00a0 You\u00a0may get bored\u00a0but the\u00a0benefits your child receives are significant.\u00a0\u00a0Click\u00a0 on the link to learn more:<\/span>\u00a0Reading is Fundamental<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n
