Apps We Shared<\/h2>\n
To get everyone excited about airplanes we spent some time looking at real plane photos and videos with \u00a0100 Planes from Michael Krynski<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0($2.99; iOS). \u00a0This app has so many different images – \u00a0if you have a little one who likes airplanes\u00a0it would be easy to get lost tapping away.<\/p>\n Then, before we flew into some of the stories we built an airplane with\u00a0Build and Play 3D from Croco Studio ($2.99 ; iOS, Android, Samsung app)<\/a>. \u00a0This wonderful app has many different toy items such as airplanes, trucks, robots and more that children can put together on the screen by dragging and placing. \u00a0It’s a great exercise in puzzle solving!<\/p>\n Next, we read our first ebook,\u00a0Planes by Byron Barton from Oceanhouse Media<\/a>\u00a0($1.99, iOS). \u00a0This is a fun story that highlights all different types and procedures involved with airplanes in a brightly colored, vibrant app.<\/p>\n For a digital flannelboard we used\u00a0Felt Board from Software Smoothie<\/a>\u00a0($2.99; iOS) to sing a song about 5 Little Airplanes: Five Little Airplanes<\/span> Continue song with 4\u20263\u20262\u20261\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n There were not little airplanes flying around If you want to hear this rhyme sung, check out\u00a0pattyshukla on YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Oh no! \u00a0With so much fun taking our airplanes for a spin in storytime, they got dirty! \u00a0Time to play with\u00a0Plane Wash from Happy Touch Apps<\/a> (FREE; iOS) to get them clean! \u00a0This is an app where you water, scrub, and dry a messy airplane to get it sparkling clean. \u00a0We took turns to make our pink biplane shine.<\/p>\n We finished with another estorybook\u00a0Around the World by James Carter and Anne Wilson from Collins Big Cat<\/a> (FREE; iOS). \u00a0A boy and a girl travel to different parts of the world to see the sights. \u00a0This app (and all free storybook apps from Collins Big Cat) also have the option of creating your own story using the backgrounds, characters, and images from the app. \u00a0While we didn’t use this feature in storytime, it would be great to share with a child at home.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n My First Airplane Ride<\/span> by Patricia Hubbell, illustrated by Nancy Speir.<\/a><\/p>\n We shared the story of a young boy making his way to visit his grandma in his first airplane ride.<\/p>\n The Airplane<\/span> Want some more fun apps to play with?<\/p>\n Visit the Children\u2019s Room and play with these on our iPads.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Or, check out our Pinterest pages:<\/p>\n![\"100](\"https:\/\/jeninthelibrary.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/07\/100-planes-app-logo.png\"){kind=logo}
