<strong>NOT<\/strong> AFRAID!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">We had some monstrous fun during our\u00a0Toddler Storytime.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">For a printable list of the songs Emberley<\/em><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3712 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2015\/05\/Go-Away-228x300.jpg\" alt=\"Go Away\" width=\"228\" height=\"300\" center\"><em>\u00a0<\/em>We start with &#8220;two big yellow eyes, a long, bluish-greenish nose&#8230;&#8221; and continue to add features until we have one big scary monster!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Not to worry,\u00a0when he gets out of hand, we just begin taking away his features one by one&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">This book, illustrated by Caldeocott Award-winning illustrator, Ed Emberley, uses<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">the diecut technique to construct AND deconstruct the green monster in the story.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">The toddlers were mesmerized\u00a0by the colors, the shapes &amp; the\u00a0suspense.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em><strong>MOVEMENT SONG:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Roll Your Hands<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em><strong>That&#8217;s Not My Monster<\/strong>&#8230;by Fiona Watt<\/em><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2015\/05\/thats-not-my-monster2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3707 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2015\/05\/thats-not-my-monster2-300x296.jpg\" alt=\"thats-not-my-monster\" style=\"text-align: center\">This is a great board\u00a0book for helping\u00a0toddlers develop sensory and language awareness.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Of\u00a0course at the end we discover the final monster with fluffy ears is <em>our monster<\/em> \u2013 who can resist<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">fluffy ears on a monster anyway?\u00a0 The children loved this book and sat quietly as I turned each page.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em><strong>FLANNEL BOARD STORY<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Five Monsters in the Bed<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">There were 5 (monsters) in the bed&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">There were five in the bed and the little monster said,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">&#8220;Move over, move over&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">So they all moved over and one fell out!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">OUCH &#8211; ROAR!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Repeat until there is only one monster left&#8230;then sing&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">There was one in the bed and this monster said,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">&#8220;I&#8217;m lonely, I&#8217;m lonely.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">So he called all his friends and they all came back!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">1, 2, 3, 4 5!!!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">There were five in the bed and they all just said,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">&#8220;Night night now&#8230;night night now.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Then they all rolled over and they turned out the light&#8230;(click)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u00a0We had fun with our flannel monster puppet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">The eyes, ears, mouth, nose and hair are all re-moveable, making this a great prop for re-telling Ed Emberley\u2019s story to toddlers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">We start with just the monster\u2019s green face..then begin adding parts one at a time:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Big Green Monster has a big, scary green face,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Two big yellow eyes, (add eyes)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">a long, bluish-green nose, (add nose)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Two little squiggly ears, (add ears)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Scraggly purple hair (add hair)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">and a big, red mouth with sharp white teeth\u2026 (add mouth)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">BUT<\/p>\n<p><a
