\nYesterday’s Infant Storytime was all about animals on the farm. We made the faces of these animals with shapes:\n<\/p>\n

\nThen we read a book called Dinnertime for Chickies<\/em><\/a> by Janee Trasler, in which a pig and a sheep are struggling to get the baby chicks to try new foods for dinner. It might have been a little long for infants–but one on one could make for some fun reading. If you liked the chickies book, you could also try Bedtime for Chickies<\/em><\/a> and Pottytime for Chickies<\/em><\/a>.\n<\/p>\n

\"Dinnertime<\/a><\/p>\n

\nWe sang a song I picked up from Peppa Pig called “I’m a Little Chick”:\n<\/p>\n

I\u2019m a little chick saying cheep-cheep-cheep
\nI like to pick up food with my beak-beak-beak
\nI have a fuzzy yellow head and straw for my bed
\nAnd I jump up and down singing cheep-cheep-cheep<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nThen we told a story about five little chicks using our flannelboard:\n<\/p>\n

\"five<\/a><\/p>\n

\nWe guessed at the animals hiding in my I Spy box, and met a pig, a lamb and a cow. Then we read our second book, Peek-a-Moo<\/em><\/a> by Marie Torres-Cimarusti and illustrated by Stephanie Peterson. This is a great book for sharing with a group because the pictures are large and bright, perfect for infants still developing their vision! I’m always happy with how that one works out for Infant storytimes.\n<\/p>\n

\nAfter that we sang the Peek-a-Boo song:\n<\/p>\n

Peek-a-Boo, where are you
\nhiding in your…place! Peek-a-Boo!
\nPeek-a-Boo, I see you
\nand your smiling…face! Peek-a-Boo!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nWe bounced our babies to “Bumpin’ Up and Down in My Little Red Wagon,” and sang Tickly Toddle, this time using the original lyrics:\n<\/p>\n

Tickly toddle, a goose likes to waddle
\n she’ll wobble and waddle all over the world<\/p>\n

Chorus:
\n So tickly, tickly, tickly pin
\n I like to be tickled up under my chin
\n Tickly, tickly, tickly, bee
\n I like to be tickled in back of my knee<\/p>\n

Tickly jiggle, a worm likes to wiggle
\n He’ll squiggle and wiggle all over the world<\/p>\n

\nWe did a fun felt activity where we matched the animal sounds to the correct animals:\n<\/p>\n

\nThen we sang “This Little Piggy,” a traditional rhyme in which you count each one of baby’s fingers or toes:\n<\/p>\n

This little piggy went to market,
\nThis little piggy stayed home,
\nThis little piggy had roast beef,
\nThis little piggy had none,
\nAnd this little piggy cried, “Wee wee wee” all the way home!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nWe ended storytime with a riotous bounce to the song “This is the Way the Ladies Ride” using a CD. Tons of fun! See you next week!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
