My family is sort of biracial (or would you call it multiethnic?). I&#8217;m white and my husband&#8217;s Latino. There are quite a lot of biracial families in Pasadena, but most children&#8217;s books seem to show families that are all the same ethnicity. It&#8217;s always nice to find one that shows mixed races\/ethnicities.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Then we read\u00a0<a title=\"Pots and Pans\" href=\"http:\/\/catalog.pasadenapubliclibrary.net\/ipac20\/ipac.jsp?session=13999HJ69344W.146323&amp;profile=pcent&amp;uri=link=3100007~!548754~!3100001~!3100002&amp;aspect=browse_search_page&amp;menu=search&amp;ri=3&amp;source=~!horizon&amp;term=Pots+and+pans+%2F&amp;index=PALLTI\" target=\"_blank\">Pots and Pans<\/a>\u00a0by Patricia Hubbell and illustrated by Diane deGroat.\u00a0 This is a classic and really illustrates the fact that you don&#8217;t need a lot of expensive toys to entertain a toddler&#8211;all you need is imagination and a little ingenuity, and often your toddler will supply those!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2014\/05\/potsandpans.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"potsandpans\" src=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2014\/05\/potsandpans-287x300.jpg\" width=\"287\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We did a flannelboard story based on the old book <a title=\"Play With Me\" href=\"http:\/\/catalog.pasadenapubliclibrary.net\/ipac20\/ipac.jsp?session=13999526477VL.146390&amp;profile=pcent&amp;uri=link=3100007~!83507~!3100001~!3100002&amp;aspect=browse_search_page&amp;menu=search&amp;ri=1&amp;source=~!horizon&amp;term=Play+with+me%3B&amp;index=PALLTI\" target=\"_blank\">Play with Me<\/a> by Marie Hall Ets:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1368\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1368\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption her.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We watched the film &#8220;Ruby&#8217;s Hippity Hop Dance&#8221; from the DVD\u00a0<a title=\"Summertime with Max and Ruby\" href=\"http:\/\/catalog.pasadenapubliclibrary.net\/ipac20\/ipac.jsp?session=13999526477VL.146390&amp;profile=pcent&amp;uri=link=3100007~!988594~!3100001~!3100002&amp;aspect=browse_search_page&amp;menu=search&amp;ri=3&amp;source=~!horizon&amp;term=Summertime+with+Max+and+Ruby&amp;index=PALLTI\" target=\"_blank\">Summertime With Max &amp; Ruby<\/a>\u00a0(available for checkout at the Pasadena Central Library).<\/p>\n<p>And we played with bubbles! \u00a0I purchased this set of Gymboree Bubble Oodles on\u00a0<a title=\"Bubble Oodles\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Gymboree-Bubble-Ooodles-Wand-Tray\/dp\/B007PRRZ3G\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1400024551&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=gymboree+bubbles+oodles\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon<\/a>\u00a0and tried them out with all the storytime groups today.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Bubble Oodles\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Gymboree-Bubble-Ooodles-Wand-Tray\/dp\/B007PRRZ3G\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1400024551&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=gymboree+bubbles+oodles\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"bubble oodles\" src=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2014\/05\/bubble-oodles-298x300.jpg\" width=\"298\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They worked really well and lasted a long time. \u00a0But one thing I learned was that you can&#8217;t blow too hard, or no bubbles will come out. \u00a0Slow and steady breaths are best. \u00a0And the soap is very thick and if it gets on your clothing, you&#8217;ll have spots for the rest of the day! \u00a0(I&#8217;m sure it washes right out though.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2014\/05\/bubbles-on-pants.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"bubbles
