My family is sort of biracial (or would you call it multiethnic?). I&#8217;m white and my husband&#8217;s Latino. There are quite a lot of biracial families in Pasadena, but most children&#8217;s books seem to show families that are all the same ethnicity. It&#8217;s always nice to find one that shows mixed races\/ethnicities.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We recited the nursery rhyme &#8220;Hey Diddle Diddle, the Cat and the Fiddle&#8221; with a library flannelboard, and we learned a new tickle song:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">You be the ice cream,<br \/>\n(Shiver your fingers around child.)<br \/>\nAnd I\u2019ll be the freezer.<br \/>\n(Put your arms around her.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">You be the lemon,<br \/>\n(Touch her on the chin, lick your finger and make \u201csour\u201d face.)<br \/>\nAnd I\u2019ll be the squeezer.<br \/>\n(A nice hug.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">You be the hot dog,<br \/>\n(Pretend to take a bite somewhere.)<br \/>\nAnd I\u2019ll be the bun.<br \/>\n(Another hug!)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">You be the baby (or child\u2019s name),<br \/>\nAnd we\u2019ll both have fun!<br \/>\n(End with a tickle.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Lastly, we played with bubbles! \u00a0I purchased this set of Gymboree Bubble Oodles on <a title=\"Bubble Oodles\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Gymboree-Bubble-Ooodles-Wand-Tray\/dp\/B007PRRZ3G\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1400024551&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=gymboree+bubbles+oodles\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon<\/a> and tried them out with all the storytime groups today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><a title=\"Bubble Oodles\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Gymboree-Bubble-Ooodles-Wand-Tray\/dp\/B007PRRZ3G\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1400024551&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=gymboree+bubbles+oodles\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1364\" alt=\"bubble oodles\" src=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2014\/05\/bubble-oodles-298x300.jpg\" width=\"298\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2014\/05\/bubble-oodles-298x300.jpg 298w, https:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2014\/05\/bubble-oodles-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2014\/05\/bubble-oodles.jpg 497w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 298px) 100vw, 298px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">They worked really well and lasted a long time. \u00a0But one thing I learned was that you can&#8217;t blow too hard, or no bubbles will come out. \u00a0Slow and steady breaths are best. \u00a0And the soap is very thick and if it gets on your clothing, you&#8217;ll have spots for the rest of the day! \u00a0(I&#8217;m sure it washes right out though.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><a href=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2014\/05\/bubbles-on-pants.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1363\" alt=\"bubbles on pants\" src=\"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2014\/05\/bubbles-on-pants-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2014\/05\/bubbles-on-pants-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2014\/05\/bubbles-on-pants-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/kids\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/10\/files\/sites\/10\/2014\/05\/bubbles-on-pants.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">It&#8217;s worth it to see the kids looking so excited and happy \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s storytime was all about Playing and the letter P!
