For our\u00a0final storytime of the winter\u00a0session\u00a0we read stories about\u00a0opposites within the context of \u00a0Big & Little.\u00a0\u00a0 What follows are the books, rhymes, songs, tickle, bounces and\u00a0flannel board and finger puppets we shared.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

BOOKS WE SHARED<\/h1>\n

I Am Small<\/em><\/strong> by Emma Dodd gives us a glimpse into how BIG the world looks when you’re as SMALL as a baby penguin – the sky is high, the oceans are deep, and the mountains are steep.\u00a0 Yet no matter how small baby penguin feels in such a big, wide world, his mama always sees him as the BIGGEST and most important thing in her life!\u00a0 This book\u00a0is illustrated in\u00a0black and white contrast with splashes of color and texture throughout, making it a good choice for an infant’s developing eyes.\u00a0 It also\u00a0introduces the concept of opposites and offers reassurance that baby is always\u00a0the apple of his mama’s eye.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

BIG Little<\/em><\/strong> by Leslie Patricelli is a board book that gives all kinds of examples of opposites.\u00a0 Patricelli creates board books that are developmentally appropriate for babies while also teaching higher level concepts.\u00a0 The illustrations are simple and bright with one word on each page.\u00a0 Makes for perfect shared time between parents\/caregivers and baby!<\/p>\n
