Books We Shared<\/h4>\n
The Dog Book<\/a> by Lorenzo Clerici is a fun metafiction that had everyone shouting “Wake UP!” and “Good dog!” As kids are prompted to interact with the illustrated dog, the illustrations change.<\/p>\n I Love Dogs<\/a> by Barney Saltzberg is a simple exploration of all the things that make dogs lovable.<\/p>\n Bark, George<\/strong><\/p>\n Bark, George<\/a> by Jules Feiffer is a classic about a dog who keeps making the sounds of other animals, until a veterinarian discovers that he has all kinds of animals in his stomach. Instead of showing the book (with its slightly scary illustrations) I used a dog puppet to tell the story, and at the part where the vet pulls animals out of his stomach, I had some felt animals hidden up the “sleeve” of the puppet.<\/p>\n Dog’s Colorful Day<\/strong><\/p>\n We used the flannelboard to talk about colors with a story based on Dog’s Colorful Day<\/a>. We added spots to the dog and counted them as Dog encountered spills of paint, drops of ice cream and smudges of mud!<\/p>\n Oh where, oh where has my little dog gone?<\/strong><\/p>\n We sang this nursery rhyme while setting up a challenge to find the dog behind the shapes!<\/p>\n Where, oh where has my little dog gone? We share a lot of songs, bounces\u00a0& rhymes during storytime! Open, Shut Them<\/strong><\/p>\n Open, shut them Open, shut them Creep them, crawl them Open up your little mouth but…. Goodbye Friends<\/strong> (song in sign)<\/p>\n Click here for video:\u00a0 <\/em>Goodbye Babies (Friends)<\/em>\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n Goodbye babies, goodbye babies Children love to sing and dance to music.\u00a0 Here are some of the songs\/bounces on CD that we\u00a0used in storytime.<\/p>\n “Clap Everybody and Say Hello” from Sally Go Round the Sun<\/a> by Kathy Reid-Naiman.<\/p>\n “Bingo” from Wiggleworms Love You<\/a> by Old Town School of Folk Music. <\/p>\n We watched the episode “Spot Cleans Up” from the DVD Discover Spot<\/a> based on the books<\/a> by Eric Hill.<\/p>\n Barks and Books<\/strong><\/p>\n If you’d like to join us for Barks and Books and read with some real live dogs, we have volunteers from the Humane Society coming on Saturday at 11 am, with their adorable and gentle dogs.
