We had lots of fun reading about things that float up in the sky – clouds, balloons, and even little boys named Ben.\u00a0 Wait!\u00a0 What?\u00a0 IF you want to find out what really happened to Ben, take a look at the books, flannel stories, finger plays and video we shared.<\/div>\n

BOOKS WE SHARED<\/h1>\n

\u00a0\"\" \"\"<\/h1>\n

In Come Back, Ben<\/em> <\/strong>by Ann and John Hassett, Ben grabs a red balloon and goes up, up, up, \u00a0beyond the\u00a0trees and hills and\u00a0mountains…all the way to the MOON!\u00a0 Everyone tries to call him back but it’s not until he gets to the moon and puts some moon rocks in his pocket that he makes his way down, down, down.<\/p>\n

Perfectly Percy<\/em><\/strong> by Paul Schmid introduces us to the plight of a porcupine who LOVES balloons!\u00a0 You can imagine he has a hard time keeping his balloons from popping.\u00a0 He is determined to find a solution to his dilemma and he begins to think and think.\u00a0 When he can only come up with ice cream as a thought – he asks his sister and his mom, for help but they can’t solve his problem.\u00a0 At breakfast the next morning he decides to put his thinking cap on again and he comes up with a brilliant plan!\u00a0 You’ll have to read the book to find out what it is!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Pete the Clown and His Five Bright Balloons<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0\u00a0 \"\"<\/p>\n

Pete the Clown bought five bright balloons at the carnival.
\n<\/span>He was so excited about them, he sang a song as he walked along.<\/span>
\n<\/span>\u201cI\u2019ve got five balloo-oons! I\u2019ve got five balloo-oons!\u201d<\/span>\u00a0(sung to the tune of a song for a Conga line)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But then POP! (clap hands)<\/p>\n

One balloon broke and started to drop.
\nNow how many balloons did Pete have?
\nFour!<\/p>\n

Did Pete cry?\u00a0 No, never!
\nHe knows balloons don’t last forever.
\nHe was so happy that he had four balloons left that he sang\u00a0a song as he walked along.
\n“I’ve got four balloo-oons!\u00a0 I’ve got four balloo-oons!”<\/p>\n

But then POP! (clap hands)<\/p>\n

One balloon broke and started to drop.
\nNow how many balloons did Pete have?
\nThree!<\/p>\n

Did Pete cry?\u00a0 No, never!

(Repeat the same sequence of events until Pete is out of balloons, then add the following ending.)<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Pete was out of balloons! What could he do?\u00a0<\/span><\/span>
<\/span><\/strong>Well he stopped where he was, turned around and went back to the Carnival where he got five more balloons.
\nAs he walked along he sang his song, “I’ve got five balloo-oons, I’ve got five balloo-oons!”<\/p>\n

WE used flannel pieces to make Charles G. Shaw’s\u00a0book, It Looked Like Spilt Milk<\/em><\/strong> come alive.<\/p>\n
