Our theme for the\u00a0EIGHTH\u00a0and final\u00a0storytime of the spring session was\u00a0FOOD!\u00a0 <\/span>We<\/span>\u00a0read\u00a0a\u00a0story about a mouse who was hungry for lunch and we\u00a0played a guessing game with different kinds of fruit\u00a0that took on some really weird shapes.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>What follows are the\u00a0books, bounces, nursery rhymes, fingerplays and flannel boards we shared.<\/span><\/p>\n

BOOKS WE SHARED<\/h1>\n

In Denise Fleming’s picture book, Lunch<\/strong><\/a>, we meet a very hungry mouse.\u00a0 Mouse is sooooo hungry that he has to have a nibble of every piece of brightly-coloured food on the table and ends up covered in it. Each of the fruits and vegetables in this picture book is in a different colour.<\/p>\n

Guess What? – Fruit<\/strong> <\/a>by Yusuke Yonezu offers colorful drawings of different fruits which transform into\u00a0animals with\u00a0the lift of a flap!\u00a0\u00a0An\u00a0interactive book that engages babies in a guessing game\u00a0and\u00a0helps them identify the names of different fruits and animals.\u00a0 Simple, bold illustrations and the\u00a0element of surprise is always a big hit with the wee ones.<\/p>\n

FLANNEL BOARDS WE SHARED<\/h1>\n

Five Ripe Berries in a Bowl<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Can be used for a flannel board or as a fingerplay!<\/em><\/p>\n

Five ripe berries sitting in\u00a0a bowl.\u00a0(hold up five fingers)<\/em>
\nThe (strawberry, etc.)\u00a0fell out and started to roll.\u00a0(Hold up finger, and roll hands)<\/em>
\nIt bumped the table and hit my toe\u00a0(clap once, and touch toes )<\/em>
\nHow many berries in the bowl? 1-2-3-4\u00a0(Count berries)<\/em><\/p>\n

Repeat rhyme until there are no more berries left in the bowl!<\/em><\/p>\n
