Our theme for the fourth\u00a0storytime of the spring session was Birds that Hatch<\/em>!\u00a0 We read about a little chick, a silly goose and tried to figure out which egg housed Baby Duck!\u00a0 Here are the stories, songs, rhymes, bounces and flannelboard we shared.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u00a0 \"\"<\/p>\n

he first book we\u00a0read\u00a0during our storytime was\u00a0This Little Chick<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>by John Lawrence.\u00a0 In it\u00a0Little Chick<\/em>\u00a0learns the sounds of the different animals in the barnyard\u2026he oinks with the pigs, moooos with the cows, baaaaas with the sheep and more!\u00a0 When he finally gets home to his mama, he has all sorts of things to say besides peep.\u00a0 A great book for learning about farm animals and the sounds they make \u2013 it also helps children with some of their long and short vowel sounds (A-E-I-O-U).<\/p>\n

Our second book was \u00a0Silly Little Goose<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0by Nancy Tafuri.\u00a0\u00a0Silly Little Goose<\/em>\u00a0is trying to find a safe, cozy, quiet place to lay her eggs.\u00a0 She has a really tough time though!\u00a0 Every time she thinks she\u2019s found a spot, she learns it already\u00a0belongs to another animal.\u00a0Eventually she does find\u00a0a big, cozy, warm hat (in a quiet spot) to lay her eggs and\u2026\u201dcrack, crack,crack\u2026\u201d \u2013 her baby goslings pop right out!\u00a0\u00a0Nancy Tafuri\u00a0writes picture books that\u00a0are perfect to read aloud to\u00a0infants and toddlers.\u00a0 Her storylines are linear and easy to follow and the accompanying\u00a0illustrations are\u00a0bold, clear and bright.<\/p>\n
