For\u00a0the\u00a0fourth meeting of our spring session we\u00a0read books about birds that hatch out of eggs!\u00a0\u00a0We read about a silly goose and a little chick and we watched three creatures hatch…one wasn’t exactly what we expected!\u00a0 Here are the books, rhymes, fingerplays, flannel boards, action songs and video we shared.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first book we\u00a0read\u00a0during our storytime was This Little Chick<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>by John Lawrence.\u00a0 In it Little Chick<\/em> learns the sounds of the different animals in the barnyard…he oinks with the pigs, moooos with the cows, baaaaas with the sheep and more!\u00a0 When he finally gets home to his mama, he has all sorts of things to say besides peep.\u00a0 A great book for learning about farm animals and the sounds they make – it also helps children with some of their long and short vowel sounds (A-E-I-O-U).<\/p>\n

Our second book was \u00a0Silly Little Goose<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0by Nancy Tafuri.\u00a0 Silly Little Goose<\/em> is trying to find a safe, cozy, quiet place to lay her eggs.\u00a0 She has a really tough time though!\u00a0 Every time she thinks she’s found a spot, she learns it already\u00a0belongs to another animal.\u00a0Eventually she does find\u00a0a big, cozy, warm hat (in a quiet spot) to lay her eggs and…”crack, crack,crack…” – her baby goslings pop right out!\u00a0\u00a0Nancy Tafuri\u00a0writes picture books that\u00a0are perfect to read aloud to\u00a0toddlers.\u00a0 Her storylines are linear and easy to follow and the accompanying\u00a0illustrations are\u00a0bold, clear and bright.<\/p>\n
