Today was the first\u00a0Toddler Storytime of the spring session!\u00a0 It was wonderful seeing all of those beautiful toddlers\u00a0this morning.\u00a0 We explored\u00a0stories about bears, sang some great songs, had fun with a puppet play and a few flannel stories and watched a great video about a slumbering bear.\u00a0 All in a day’s work!<\/p>\n

Listed below you’ll find the books we read and the lyrics\/words to the rhymes, songs & activities we shared.\u00a0 That way you can practice with your wee one(s) at home!<\/p>\n

Books We Shared<\/h1>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Don’t Worry Bear<\/a> by Greg Foley is a sweet tale about Bear and his friend, Caterpillar.\u00a0 When Caterpillar tells Bear\u00a0that he is making a cocoon, Bear\u00a0is worried.\u00a0 Caterpillar’s\u00a0cocoon is way up high in\u00a0a tree and Bear fears that his friend won’t survive the cold, blustery winter weather up there! Each day Bear checks on his friend and Caterpillar tells him not to worry, but he can’t help it!\u00a0 The\u00a0wind blows, it rains, it snows and bear worries on.\u00a0 When spring finally arrives Bear sees that the cocoon is empty!\u00a0 Where is caterpillar?\u00a0 Bear thinks he’ll never see his friend again.\u00a0 That is until a\u00a0beautiful silk moth lands on his nose.\u00a0 I bet you can guess\u00a0who that is!\u00a0 A beautiful story about\u00a0friendship, caring, letting go and\u00a0transformation.\u00a0 It also introduces toddlers to\u00a0a bit of science as we see that the caterpillar eventually\u00a0becomes a beautiful moth.<\/p>\n

Since Bear in the book Don’t Worry Bear<\/strong> was worried about his friend, Caterpillar, I couldn’t resist sharing a finger puppet play about my friend Caterpillar and his transformation!<\/p>\n

A fuzzy little caterpillar<\/p>\n

Don’t you crawl away I said!<\/p>\n

But the next day, when I opened up the lid,<\/p>\n

Out flew a butterfly instead!<\/p>\n

Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you See?<\/a> is a classic by Bill Martin.\u00a0 No one ever tires of hearing this one, especially since it has a wonderful rhyming cadence that makes for great audience participation!\u00a0 It is also a good primer for identifying animals and colors.\u00a0 Always a hit with the toddler (and adult) crowd!<\/p>\n
