Join us for ArtNight!

On Friday, Oct. 23rd from 6-10 pm, Pasadena Public Library is participating in ArtNight, a Pasadena-wide celebration of all things artistic, for all ages! We’re planning several things that will be fun for families with kids, especially!

We’ll kick things off at 6 pm with a special theatre program called “Guardians of the Literary Galaxy, Defenders of the Dewey Decimal System,” featuring Theatre Americana and showcasing Library staff presenting stories, music, crafts, Pasadena historical photos and more!

Then from 6:15 – 6:45 pm we’re hosting an Art-Themed Storytime presented by our Youth Services Manager Jennifer Driscoll on Zoom. We’ll share stories, sing songs and have fun. To register for the program, sign up here! Once you register, you’ll receive an email to the Zoom link for the event.

Following that we’ll have a special ArtNight Edition of LEGO® Builds with Librarian Hsin-yi Wang on Instagram Live @pasadenalibrary from 6:45 –7:15 p.m. Bring your LEGOs and play with us!

At 7:15 pm we’ll have a music program called Craft and Sing, presented by Youth Services staff AnnMarie Kolakowski and Marie Plug. We will guide you on making shaker instruments with materials you have in your kitchen, and then we’ll all sing along to some feel-good tunes presented by library staff! If you play uke or guitar, jam with us! Click here to sign up for the Zoom meeting. You can download the lyrics and chords at the link below:

AnnMarie Kolakowski

I'm a youth services librarian currently working at the Lamanda Park Branch Library while Central Library is closed for seismic repairs. I purchase juvenile fiction for grades 2-8, and some foreign languages. I do a lot of programs with school-age kids, including 3 regular book clubs (Windows and Mirrors, Read Around the World, and Lucha Libros), as well as writing workshops and STEAM/science programs. I also Infant/Toddler Storytimes and Preschool Storytimes, and outreach to local area preschools. I love what I do, working with kids of all ages to inspire them to learn and use their curiosity and imaginations. Outside of my work at the library, I am also the author of a book on creative writing activities for kids.
