Our wonderful summer session of Toddler Storytime ended last Tuesday. For this eighth and final storytime we read all about babies. We began with a counting song (sung to the tune of 10 Little Indians)!
One little, two little, three little babies
Four little, five little, six little babies
Seven little, eight little, nine little babies
10 little babies here!

Books We Shared
A Book of Babies by Il Sung Na is delicate and bold at the same time. Each image is colorful with fine attention to detail and intricate patterns within the drawings. We are shown various animals born in the spring and are told a little about each type. We see “noisy ducklings” and some babies who have “lots of brothers and sisters” (a school of fish) and some who “have none at all” (a baby monkey). There are many more animal babies to discover, making this a great book for toddlers and preschoolers in general. Each age level will come away with something that touches upon a different developmental stage.
What a Wonderful World based on Louis Armstrong’s version of the song “What a Wonderful World” is a beautifully illustrated picture book that can be sung or read aloud. Singing a book is another way to enrich a child’s literacy development. Music is a wonderful way to enhance language and learning!
