Earlier this month we had a great graphic design workshop taught by teens, for teens and tweens. The instructors are from Arcadia High School and they have created their own nonprofit organization called Project Designation, and they visit schools and libraries teaching kids graphic design concepts and leading them in an art project.

First the teens gave a presentation introducing concepts like secondary and tertiary colors and font types:

The theme of the activity this time was repeated shapes. Participants were split up into two groups. One group worked on making bookmarks featuring a creative use of their first initial, often repeating the letter again and again to make a design. The other group worked on designing cool shapes and cloning them, then giving them either a colorful background or slightly different colored fills. They were using Google Slides.
