WHOOOOO loves owls? We did, in Saturday’s preschool storytime!
Books We Shared
Everyone ones that owls are wise, but in Sean Taylor’s Hoot Owl Master of Disguise, illustrated by Jean Jullien, Hoot Owl shows us some other… skills that he has. Flying through the cover of darkness, Hoot Owl hunts for something to fill his hungry tummy. Will he ever catch something delicious?
Little Owl hates his new scarf. But whenever he tries to get rid of it, Momma finds it. Will he find a way to part with it? This story got a good giggle from the group at the last page.
Flannelboard Story
Our flannelboard was Good-Night Owl, based on the book by Pat Hutchins.

Movements
We took some traditional melodies and made them into something new with both of our movements about owls.
Just Like an Owl
(to the tune of “London Bridge”)
Flap your wings and fly around,
fly around, fly around.
Flap your wings and fly around.
Just like an owl.
Other Verses:
Open your eyes big and wide…
Land on the ground and hop along
Turn your head and say “hoo hoo!”
rhyme taken from: Literary Hoots
The Owl Pokey
(to the tune of “The Hokey Pokey”)
You put your right wing in, you put your right wing out
You put your right wing in, and you shake it all about
You do the owl pokey and you fly yourself around
That’s what it’s all about!
Hoot! Hoot!
Taken from storytime katie, who got the idea from Ms. Hegna’s Storytime
