Well we went to the City for toddler storytime today!  Miss Jennifer was on vacation so I (Miss Marie), got to take a trip with her storytime toddlers!  First we explored the sites with Maisy!

In Lucy Cousin’s colorful book, “Maisy Goes to the City”, we followed Maisy and her friends as they walked through busy streets, visited a toy store, went to the playground, rode the subway and ate pizza at an outdoor café!  Whew!  Our fantastic journey ended in the evening with a sky full of twinkling stars (we just had to end our story by singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star).

If you live in Los Angeles it is pretty difficult to get around the City without a car (not impossible, but not easy).  So, we read “My Car” by Bryon Barton.  In this story, we meet Sam who introduces us to his red car.  We learn about the different parts of the car (wheels, body, engine, etc.) and we see that it requires oil and gas to run properly.  We also see Sam driving to work; the irony is he gets out of his CAR and into his BUS!!  Sam is a bus driver!  A charming, colorful story that draws toddlers in with it’s simplicity and alluring illustrations.  It is hard not to get drawn into this book as Sam gives us a glimpse into his world.
