Infant and Toddler Time was all about food – yummy, yucky, wonderful, colorful food!!!  We read about yummy foods like apples, bananas, blueberries, cookies, ice cream and soup AND we talked about some yucky “things” that sometimes find their way into our mouths…things like sand, earwax and boogers!!!

Here are some of the stories, songs and rhymes we shared:

To reinforce last week’s theme we repeated the action rhyme This is Big (see Opposites posting) and we used a book by Leslie Patricelli, Yummy, Yucky!

Other Action Rhymes & Songs:

Open Shut Them  & My Head My Shoulders My Knees My Toes (see Opposites posting for words to both of these).

Flannelboard Rhyme (for infants)

Little Jack Horner

Little Jack Horner sat in a corner

Eating his pudding pie.

He put in his thumb and pulled out a plum

and said:  “What a good boy am I.”

Five Little Cookies

Five little cookies with frosting galore,

Mother ate the green one and then there were four.

Four little cookies, two and two you see,

Father ate the purple one and then there were three.

Three little cookies, but before I knew,

Sister ate the orange one and then there were two.

Two little cookies, oh what fun!

Brother ate the blue one and then there was one!

One little cookie…watch me run!

I ate the pink one and then there were NONE!
