“This month PIF is Jessica James. She has assisted me with special projects and is always eager to start a new task.
She is a good team player.” – Dora Marin
“I am delighted like to pass on the PIF award to Dora Marin. Dora has been employed by the library for over 25 years. She works with several supervisors and she juggles duties from Support Services and Reference. Dora only works part-time, but she always has a positive attitude and “can do” approach to any projects or assignments. It’s been a pleasure working with Dora and she definitely deserves this award for her dedicated service over the years.”
– Bernadette Glover
“It is my great pleasure to present the PIF Award to Bernadette Glover. I had the opportunity to work with Bernadette many years ago at Lamanda Park, and found her to be an extremely professional and inspirational colleague. She motivated me to continue to work for PPL. It has always been my hope that someday I would be able to acknowledge her importance to my library career. Thank you, Bernadette!” -Ruzanna Margaryan
“I have worked with Jessica Viray for nearly ten years, since we both began at Santa Catalina, and I have always been impressed with her work ethic. Jessica is a hard worker, has great customer skills, and is a team player in the truest since of the expression in that she makes the whole team look great through her professionalism.” -Carlos Perez
“Carlos’ quiet personality and awareness of his surroundings at La Pintoresca and his use of good judgement makes the staff feel safe and secure. Carlos is also very accommodating and helpful with the staff and patrons. He has a good understanding of our patrons and goes the extra mile to help them with the copy machine and/or computer questions if staff is busy with other patrons. He always helps with setting up furniture for our Storytime and any of our other programs. For example, on Día Del Nino program Carlos set up all our props and was very helpful when it came time to clean up. We are lucky to have him as part of our team.” -Sylvia Arnold
“Sylvia is a top notch page who does more than just shelf books. Sylvia makes the effort to clear the shelves of books that are damaged, out of date or titles with multiple copies. For a small branch this kind of attention to detail is extremely helpful. Besides keeping our shelves looking great, Sylvia has taken the initiative to organize the collection in a way that makes it easier for patrons to locate material, and to create a special career section. Sylvia has also shown a talent for creating eye-catching adult book displays, and patrons have responded to the variety of choices and unique material that she has included in the displays. Finally, Sylvia is a super team player, always jumping in to help out with programs and crafts, always arrives to work with a positive attitude that makes her a pleasure to work with.” -Lupita Barajas
“Lupita has been instrumental in helping to build a community of Spanish-speaking families who are finding good books in Spanish and reading more, by giving them a fun weekly storytime in their native language. They come to her storytimes and laugh and share stories, and through that program, Lupita has made an impact on families struggling with poverty. Through her efforts, the library has become their home away from home.” -AnnMarie Hurtado
“AnneMarie is one of the most creative and talented employees at PPL. On any given day, she can be found heading up children’s programs like Lucha Libros, taking helpful notes for various meetings, and being a pleasant resource at the Children’s Desk. As many of you know, she also has the most amazing singing voice! AnneMarie is always friendly and ready to help out and that is why she is the next PIF award recipient!” -Melissa Perez
