She hated field trips, especially this one. Today her class was going to the Norton Simon Museum. She would rather count grains of sand than spend the day learning about art or poetry.<\/p>\n<p>The bus came to a halt. Harper waited for her name to be called, and as usual, she was one of the last students off.<\/p>\n<p>Once in the museum, Harper heard her friend Nate. \u201cHey, Harper,\u201d he said. \u201cThat painting is cool, right?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was an abstract picture, but not exactly \u201ccool.\u201d Next to the painting was a six page letter. Harper thought to herself, <em>\u201cSomeone would have to pay me to write that much. I hate writing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Harper heard Nate\u2019s voice again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHarper, come here! It\u2019s your name.\u201d Harper walked over to Nate who pointed to a diary written by Harper Rakosi. The display read:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I watched the river run slowly past me as I sat on my stool and felt the rhythm of my pen dance across the paper.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Harper finished reading, confused. She rushed over to the docent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExcuse me, where did you find that diary?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is Ms. Rakosi\u2019s most famous diary,\u201d said the woman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat do you mean <em>famous<\/em>?\u201d said Harper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh I\u2019m sorry, I just assumed you knew. Harper Rakosi is a famous poet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harper asked one more question.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you know if she had any children?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The woman thought.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe she had one daughter by the name of Julieta Rakosi.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harper felt faint. <em>\u201cThat\u2019s my grandma,\u201d<\/em> she thought.<\/p>\n<p>Harper walked back to the diary and re-read the words over and over again. Then she thought about her famous great grandma and smiled.
