Although both experience the firsthand tragedies of climate change, they live on opposite sides of the globe. That is, until they are selected into an elite group of scientists destined to fly to Europa, one of Jupiter’s icy moons. Their mission: colonization of Europa and conversion of the planet into a new place for humanity to settle. As they fly through training and instruction, both wonder if there is more to the program than face value. Additionally, as their fellow scientists begin to drop off, they also must ponder the real goal of the Europa Colonization program.
This book is a rather interesting read. I cannot in good faith give it a high score due to the pacing, but its plot is by far more interesting than most YA Sci-Fi novels. The romance subplot, while interesting to some, is rather predictable; but, it is the underlying conspiracy that will keep readers coming back for more. And with its upcoming adaptation into a film by Sony Pictures, it may become extremely popular with Sci-Fi fans. One thing I can say is for certain: the score of this novel reflects the difficulty of analysis that came with it. 3.5/5 stars.

Find this book in our catalog: The Final Six

Catalog Number: On Call

338 pages

review by Jacob Chon, age 16 The Final Six by Alexandra Monir Naomi, an Iranian-American high schooler, and Leo, an Italian orphan, have barely anything in common.
