{"id":3286,"date":"2016-11-11T09:00:20","date_gmt":"2016-11-11T17:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/teens\/?p=3286"},"modified":"2021-07-06T13:37:36","modified_gmt":"2021-07-06T20:37:36","slug":"opium-teen-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/pasadena-library.net\/teens\/2016\/opium-teen-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Opium &#8212; teen review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Review by Jacob Chon, grade 9<\/p>\n<h2><em>The Lord of Opium<\/em>\u00a0by Nancy Farmer<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A land of Opium, dedicated to growing drugs, is established in a strip of land between Mexico and America. \u00a0\u00a0One hundred years after the establishment of the country Opium, a clone named Matt is born. \u00a0His life consists of living with the leader\u2019s cook, a woman named Celia, and a bodyguard named Tam Lin. \u00a0However, because he is a clone, many people harass him and he is stigmatized. One day, he is exploring the house when he happens upon a clone. \u00a0He then realizes his purpose as a clone: to be killed for organs. \u00a0Then, his turn comes, but he runs away before they manage to kill him. \u00a0Will Matt survive? Or will he be caught by those looking for him?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This book was definitely one of the longer books I\u2019ve read. \u00a0The plot was well developed and I enjoyed the style of the book.
