The House of Scorpion<\/em> by Nancy Farmer<\/h2>\n

Summary: For many years the Scholar nation has been controlled and abused by the Martial Empire. \u00a0A young Scholar named Laia is forced to watch her grandparents killed and her brother jailed for drawing weapons. \u00a0She flees to a resistance group who gives her a mission to spy on a military school in exchange for her brother\u2019s freedom. \u00a0Meanwhile, a final year named Elias in the same Martial Empire\u2019s military school plans to desert. \u00a0However, he is forced to take part in a competition to find the new emperor. \u00a0Through fate, the two of them meet and work together to achieve their goals. \u00a0However, things go wrong, and many problems arise. \u00a0Laia gets closer and closer to being discovered, and Elias starts to lose the competition. \u00a0Will Laia get her brother back? \u00a0And will Elias win the competition?<\/span><\/p>\n

This book was an interesting read. \u00a0I enjoyed the universe and mythology the writer created. \u00a0The characters and world felt real to me, and I could understand what was happening. \u00a0However, the author could have elaborated more on the military academy. \u00a0Despite most of the story happening at the military academy I didn\u2019t know much about the academy itself. \u00a0It deserves 4\/5 stars.<\/p>\n
