Livin’ in Hooverville<\/b><\/p>\n
by Mary Mejia, Grade 12<\/em><\/p>\n Parody of \u201cNine in the Afternoon\u201d by Panic at the Disco<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Into the streets is where we are<\/p>\n Feeling as low as one can ever know<\/p>\n Yeah we’re feeling so sad<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Pickin\u2019 up trash to build a house<\/p>\n Government rouse by the bad economy<\/p>\n Because the stock market crashed<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Out on the streets is where we are<\/p>\n Government can you help or could you give<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We live in a place that\u2019s full of gloom<\/p>\n We lived and consumed now we\u2019re facing our own doom<\/p>\n And we know that it\u2019s our fault<\/p>\n And we\u2019re the ones to be blamed<\/p>\n But \u2019cha know that it\u2019s his fault too<\/p>\n ‘Cause we\u2019re living in Hooverville<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And Herbert ain\u2019t got the will<\/p>\n \u2018Cause he didn\u2019t pass a reform bill<\/p>\n We’re feeling so mad<\/p>\n With the way that this man<\/p>\n Is handling this issue<\/p>\n <\/p>\n He says we can pull this through<\/p>\n But you know that we can\u2019t, so we\u2019re screwed<\/p>\n We’re feeling so blue<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We marched on the street<\/p>\n In front of D.C.<\/p>\n Vets lost the bonuses they seeked<\/p>\n When Hoover called in the Chief<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Back to the slums<\/p>\n Where we now stay<\/p>\n Man, does he want us to live this way!!<\/p>\n Now this dude\u2019s really mean<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Back to the street, because of the fact<\/p>\n That he approved the Hawley-Smoot Act, hey<\/p>\n Now we\u2019re all screwed and there\u2019s no going back<\/p>\n ‘Cause we\u2019re living in Hooverville<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And Herbert ain\u2019t got the will<\/p>\n \u2018Cause he didn\u2019t pass a reform bill<\/p>\n We’re feeling so mad<\/p>\n With the way that this man<\/p>\n Is handling this issue<\/p>\n [x3]<\/p>\n No second term<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n About the Song Parody Contest:<\/b><\/p>\n Create a parody of an existing song.
