Raging Star by Moira Young

five-stars

This is the last installment in the Dust Lands Trilogy so if you haven’t read the first two books, don’t read this review.

Like I said, this is the last book and it does a pretty good job of wrapping things up. I didn’t feel like anything was forced or too abrupt because the rest of the series was leading to this ending. Although, to be honest, the solution to Saba’s love triangle was a little unexpected even if it was foreshadowed (but only a little bit).

If you’re already reading the third book (this is, of course, assuming that you haven’t skipped ahead), then you’re probably used to the writing. The post-apocalyptic language that is, at times, hard to understand and the lack of quotation marks can make things difficult. I, personally, didn’t find this endearing because it just made reading the book more difficult. But since the book moves pretty quickly (in the space of about 15 days) it’s not that difficult to get caught up in the plot and move through the language fairly quickly.

For character development, Saba takes the cake, but then again she’s really the only one who has any growth. You don’t see much change in any of the other characters, but this is also due to the fact that most (if not all) of the story is about her and told from her perspective.

Overall, I recommend it to anyone who has enjoyed the series thus far because it’s pretty up to par to its predecessors.  5 stars. –Kara E.
