The winter session of Infant\u00a0storytime is underway and our\u00a0theme for the\u00a0first meeting was\u00a0BUILDING!\u00a0 We talked about the letter B and the many words that start with B (including the word building), read books about building with blocks and trucks and had lots of\u00a0fun singing Old Macdonald with a twist.\u00a0\u00a0Listed below are\u00a0the books,\u00a0songs, rhymes, flannel stories and\u00a0activities we explored about our topic.<\/p>\n

Books We Shared<\/h4>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u00a0 \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Blocks<\/strong><\/a> by Irene Dickson is a story about learning to share.\u00a0\u00a0The book opens with Ruby playing with her red blocks and Benji playing with his blue blocks.\u00a0\u00a0Chaos ensues when Benji decides to take one of Ruby\u2019s red blocks.\u00a0 There\u2019s a \u201ctoddler\u201d tussle and all of the blocks come crashing down.\u00a0 Is there a resolution?\u00a0 Why yes!\u00a0 After the crash the red and blue blocks are all mixed together and Ruby and Benji discover that sharing their blocks makes for double the fun.\u00a0 Enter Guy \u2013 he brings over some green blocks.\u00a0 What will happen now?\u00a0 We can only guess.<\/p>\n

Vroom, Vroom, Trucks!<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0by Karen Katz is\u00a0a fun, interactive board book that takes us on a journey through a\u00a0construction site\u00a0to\u00a0find Baby!\u00a0 Is Baby in the bulldozer? The cement truck? The tall crane?\u00a0 The dump truck?\u00a0 The excavator???\u00a0 As we lift the flaps we see baby isn’t in any of those vehicles but\u00a0eventually we do find him\u00a0in his bedroom playing with his toy trucks!\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What Starts With B?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We talked about the letter B\u00a0and brought out some things that begin with the letter B.\u00a0 There was a bat, a baby, a bottle and a balloon!\u00a0 The children had fun guessing as I pulled out each flannel piece.\u00a0 We also practiced making the B sound!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Old Macdonald Had a Woodshop<\/strong> <\/em>
