In storytime today, we started off by looking at pictures of a rhino, a narwhal, and a unicorn and seeing what they all have in common:<\/p>\n

They all have one horn!<\/p>\n

So we celebrated one-horned creatures in all parts of storytime today.<\/p>\n

For our flannelboard, we counted down some very prancy unicorns.

I saw five little unicorns \u2013 creatures from folklore
\nI watched the blue one prance away, and then there were four.
\nI saw four little unicorns resting by a tree
\nI watched the orange one prance away, and then there were three.
\nI saw three little unicorns, but as near to them I drew
\nThe green one pranced away, and then there were two.
\nI saw two little unicorns \u2013 I watched them run and run
\nthe yellow one pranced away, and then there was one.
\nI saw a lonely pink unicorn standing in the sun.
\nwhen I blinked by eyes, it pranced away, and then there were none.<\/p>\n

You can play this on your fingers too – start with five fingers up, and then put one down each time a unicorn prances away.<\/p>\n

Pretend to be a\u00a0rhinoceros at home with this rhyme!<\/p>\n

The Rhinoceros<\/span>
\nThe rhinoceros moves like this and that\u00a0(stomp from one foot to the other)<\/em>
\nHe\u2019s terrible wide and he\u2019s terribly fat\u00a0(hold hands out to your sides)<\/em>
\nThe ground gets under his feet gets worn\u00a0(stomp)<\/em>
\nbut goodness gracious look at that horn!\u00a0(make a horn with your hand)<\/em><\/p>\n
