\nBe Quiet, Mike! by Leslie Patricelli<\/a>
\nSince he was born, monkey Mike has been banging and tapping rhythms all the time.\u00a0 His family and friends all tell him, “Be Quiet, Mike!”\u00a0 But when Mike sees a drum kit in a store window, he gets a great idea that may have others changing their chorus.\u00a0 This is a fun one because kids and parents can repeat “Be Quiet!” again and again.<\/p>\n

\nSpunky Little Monkey<\/span> by Bill Martin Jr and Michael Sampson, illustrated by Brian Won.<\/a>
\nLittle Monkey is tired and doesn\u2019t want to get out of bed. Mama calls the doctor and the doctor says \u2014 Exercise!\u00a0 Listeners get to have fun moving along with Little Monkey in this interactive dancing and grooving story.<\/p>\n

\nTwo Little Monkeys by Mem Fox, illustrated by Jill Barton<\/a>
\nTwo little monkeys are playing in a tree, when they spy something scary sneaking underneath them.\u00a0 What is it?\u00a0 And can get away from it?\u00a0 If you know the song “Two Little Blackbirds”, you’ll have fun reading this story to the same tune.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Flannelboard Story<\/h2>\n

For our flannelboard, we had a story about a very sneaky crocodile.

\nThree little monkeys, swinging in a tree\u00a0(hold up three fingers)<\/em>
\nTeasing Mr. Crocodile, “Can’t catch me!”\u00a0(shake pointer finger in tsk, tsk, tsk manner)<\/em>
\nAlong came Mr. Crocodile, as quiet as could be\u00a0(palms together, wiggle hands back and forth)<\/em>
\nand SNAP!\u00a0(clap hands on “Snap!”)<\/em><\/p>\n

Remove a monkey from the board, and continue counting down until no monkeys are left.<\/em><\/p>\n

Movements<\/h2>\n

In between stories we did some fun movements about monkeys.<\/p>\n

Itsy Bitsy Monkey<\/span>
\n(to the tune of “The Itsy Bitsy Spider”)<\/em>
\nThe itsy bitsy monkey climbed up a palm tree (pretend to climb up tree)<\/em>
\nDown came a coconut, and hit him on his knee – OUCH!
\n(“hit” knee with hand, say ouch loudly)<\/em>
\nOut came a lion shaking his mighty mane (ROAR!)<\/em>
\nAnd the itsy bitsy monkey climbed up the tree again
\n(pretend to climb tree, faster this time)<\/em><\/p>\n

Monkeys Swinging<\/span>
\n(to the tune of “Skip to My Lou”)
\n<\/em>Monkeys swinging, swinging all day
\nMonkeys swinging, swinging all day
\nMonkeys swinging, swinging all day
\nSwinging til I saaaaaaay —- STOP!<\/p>\n

\u00a0A hat peddler takes a nap under a tree, only to find when he awakes his hats are all missing!\u00a0 Where have they gone?\u00a0 Can he convince the thieves who have taken them to give him back his hats?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
