When families flocked to our second toddler storytime of the Fall session, they heard a storytime all about sheep!<\/p>\n

\nLauren Thompson’s Wee Little Lamb, illustrated by John Butler<\/a>, is about a newborn lamb who is very shy. \u00a0he doesn’t want to venture far from his mother, even to have fun with the other animals. \u00a0But when he meets a mouse, he finds another shy friend who knows just how he needs to play.<\/p>\n

\nOur second book was a the rollicking, rhyming romp Sheep in a Jeep by Nancy Shaw, illustrated by Margot Apple<\/a>. \u00a0A group of sheep are out for a jaunt in a jeep, but they are not the best drivers. \u00a0Will the car survive intact? \u00a0This is just one of the books in the series of Sheep books by Shaw<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nI found this rhyme via Lisa at Libraryland,\u00a0<\/a>who found it from LibrErin<\/a>, who found it on Recipes for Reading.<\/a>\u00a0Recipes for Reading<\/a> linked to a template for the pieces at Making Learning Fun<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We placed the white lamb on the board, then sang:<\/p>\n

Mary had a little lamb
\nlittle lamb, little lamb
\nMary had a little lamb
\nits fleece was white as snow.<\/p>\n

But did you know Mary had many different lambs. \u00a0We sang about some of these lambs too:<\/p>\n

Mary had a blue lamb
\nblue lamb, blue lamb
\nMary had a blue lamb
\nits fleece was blue as sky…<\/p>\n

We sang about the blue lamb, the green as grass lamb, and the orange as an orange lamb.<\/p>\n
