Books We Shared<\/h2>\n

\nIn Stuck in the Mud<\/span> by Jane Clarke with illustrations by Garry Parsons<\/a>, Mama Hen comes out to see that one of her chicks is missing!\u00a0 After looking around, she finds he’s stuck in the mud, and when she tries to push and pull him out – she gets stuck too!\u00a0 It’s time for all the animals to pitch in and see if they can save the chick.\u00a0 We had fun with this one — especially the surprise ending!<\/p>\n

Our next book was about exactly what we were doing — chicken storytime!\u00a0 Ok, well, not EXACTLY.\u00a0 Because in Chicken Story Time<\/span> by Sandy Asher, illustrated by Mark Fearing<\/a>, an actual chicken sees that the library has storytime, and wants to come listen.\u00a0 Soon all of her chicken friends want to join in.\u00a0 How will the librarian keep things under control?\u00a0 We only had humans in our storytime today, so thankfully THIS librarian didn’t have that issue.<\/p>\n

For our flannelboard, we did a rhyme that you can do on your hands too!<\/p>\n

5 Eggs and 5 Eggs<\/span><\/p>\n

Five eggs and five eggs (hold up five fingers on one hand, then on the other)<\/em>
\nthat makes ten.
\nSitting on top is a mother hen. (clutch one hand into a fist, place the fist on top of it)<\/em>
\nCrackle! Crackle! Crackle! (clap each time you say Crackle!)<\/em>
\nWhat do I see? (hold hands out in question)<\/em>
\nTen yellow chicks, as fluffy as can be. (hold up 10 fingers and wiggle them)<\/em><\/p>\n

We pretended to be chickens today while we sang this song:<\/p>\n
